Multi-element system and human-machine interface for patients suffering different stages of Multiple Sclerosis.
Patients suffering from multiple sclerosis, as the disease progresses, are struggling with increasing mobility and communication limitations. As a result, both work and ordinary daily activities become a problem for them. The need for help from third parties is increasing, life independence and social contact opportunities are dicreasing, and this also leads to psychological problems indicated within the patients. To cope with these kind of problems, there’s a need to develop a system and dedicated software that will allow people with MS to control a personal computer using non-standard input devices (adapted to the current stage of the disease of each patient). Next to that there’s also a need to build a crowd-computing platform that facilitates the exchange of data between many patients and entities that can outsource mental work, implemented remotely.
Focus & Strategy
The system contains a personal computer, output device (monitor, projector or VR goggles), hardware module for recognizing voice commands (does not require access to the Internet) and other peripheral devices supporting computer voice control, dedicated software based on one of the well-known operating systems (MacOS, Windows, Linux or Android), or based on an proprietary operation system.

- Cost adjusted to the realities of countries at the level of Poland’s economic development
- The device is also a workstation in the crowd-computing system, and thus enables professional work in the dimension chosen by the user
- Solutions based on well-tested and regularly developed technologies – long device life due to the possibility of regular software updates
